The tradition is being revived by the family-owned Karloff company, which has been marketing premium products in the alcohol sector since 2002. Large-scale production and distribution began in early 2003, when Ján Semaňák wanted to market it as a kind of Slovak national drink. At first, it was sold in small quantities, but after its success, larger quantities were produced from the beginning of 2004. The original, ordinary-looking bottle was replaced by a thermos variant, and five further batches were produced. The tea-based versions were later joined by fruit-based versions, and then by the third generation, which is herbal-based.

The exclusive supplier of the products is the company Tatranská Likérka, based in Kashmir, which manufactures its products using only natural ingredients from selected domestic and foreign suppliers. The leader is the Tatranský Čaj drink, which has been given the global Tatratea name due to its growing exports.

The exact recipe of Tatratea is a secret, but one thing is certain: all its varieties are based on high-quality, selected black and white tea leaves, with the addition of countless fruit and herbal extracts. The teas are then matured in oak barrels for eight weeks and bottled after a further short rest. Tatratea 52 Original is the most popular variety to date, and no wonder, as it is the original version that was first distributed in the world. The Original type has an alcohol content of 52%.
