Ume (Prunus mume) is a Japanese fruit, related to the apricot and plum, which is used to make many liqueurs and beverages. In Europe they are usually referred to as Japanese plum wine and liqueur, although the fruit itself is not identical to the plum we know.

On tasting it retains the original Extra Years character, pleasantly bitter with herbal notes coming from the red shiso leaves.

The Osaka-based company began its operations in 1914 as a grape grower. In 1959, it began production of CHOYA Umeshu, a traditional Japanese liqueur made from ume fruit. CHOYA has become the largest producer of Umeshu in the world.

Their mission is to produce the finest Umeshu made from natural ingredients.
