The ume fruit (Prunus mume) is related to apricots and plums, a kind of transition between them. It has a higher acid content than plums and its drinks are sweet and fruity, in Japan they are used to make various liqueurs and drinks. CHOYA Original Umeshu is one such drink with a distinctive aroma.
To make umeshu, ume fruit is soaked in alcohol, mixed with sugar and left to ferment.
It is also excellent as an aperitif, but it also goes well in a champagne cocktail. It can also be served with green tea as a winter warming drink.
Aroma: Fresh red berry fruit, plum and caramel notes.
Taste: typical umeshu. Sweet plums, jam, marzipan and slight acidity.

The liqueur is combined with premium alcohols and fresh citrus fruits to create the perfect balance between sweet and sour, ideal for those who want to experience something new and different.
